Born in 1955 in Gatineau, Michel Martineau, Visual artist, has worked in Montréal since 1980. Professor at l’École des arts visuels et médiatiques de l’Université du Québec, his approach to painting is a pictorial reflection centered on the notions of body and identity, memory, space and reproductivity of the image explored in both painting and the digital world.
The artist has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions across Canada, including one at the Museum of contemporary art of Montreal. His works, mostly large formats, brightly coloured can be found in private and public collections and also integrated to architecture. Winner of the 3th biennial of painting of the Centre Saidye Bronfmam, Michel Martineau received several awards from the Canada Arts Council and Council of arts and letters of Quebec.
