Savage, Michel

Michel Savage was born in Limoges (Ontario) in 1953. A graduate of the Department of Visual arts of the University of Ottawa, he studied painting with Edmund Alleyn and Richard Gorman from 1972 to 1976. In 1982, he travelled and exhibited in Spain where he made the acquaintance of the catalan painter Antoni Tàpies. Lecturer at the Université du Québec à Montréal where he teaches drawing, his pictorial work favours the exploration of abstract forms and the symbolic color to evoke emotions associated with the material of subjects rather than in the interest of creating a visual facsimile of the subject itself.

Michel Savage has mainly exhibited in academic and independent artistic circles. He also practices different techniques of printmaking, including etching , lithography and screen printing.
