Cheff, Michel V.

After a career as an educator, a curator, a manager and a director at the National Gallery of Canada, at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Michel V. Cheff returned to his studio in 2013. Inspired by nature on the shores of Lac de la Marche, in the Gatineau Valley, he draws as he paints and paints as he draws. His art expresses the lines, the colors, the light, the texture, the aquatic flora, the mosses, the undergrowth, the trees, the water and the skies surrounding him. His gesture also expresses the intrinsic dynamics materials and techniques: paper, canvas, pastel, coloured pencils, graphite, acrylic, gouache, watercolour etc.
